Member Registration Opening Soon

Registration for 2020/2021 membership is opening soon for anyone wanting to become an Ontario Greybeard. Cost of membership is $250 and is inclusive of 2020 and 2021 seasons. This membership fee is vital to ensure the team can operate and will be used for purposes including; Brampton RFC facilities, incorporation and setup fees, banking and financial costs, costs associated with hosting visiting teams, and much more. Greybeards membership makes you eligible not just for club games, but also international tournaments such as the International Masters Festival during the 2021 World Cup.

Payments can be made in full or split in to two installments of $125. The first installment of $125 will be greatly appreciated in the next two weeks to allow us to settle costs already incurred. The second installment of $125 will be due March 2021.

Sign up sheets will be available at training starting October 4th so remember to bring your ID and fee.

Home Facilities Confirmed

We are pleased to announce that we have reached a tentative agreement with Brampton RFC to share facilities until at least the end of the 2021 season. This makes Brampton RFC our official home for training, matches, functions etc. All sports teams need a home and this agreement allows us make use of the rugby specific facilities, including clubhouse, field, training gear etc. We thank Brampton RFC for their warm welcome and we look forward to enjoying a fantastic relationship with them for years to come. Special thanks to Sean McMullen who has led the charge in finding a home and worked tirelessly with the team at Brampton RFC to reach an agreement.

We also have a shiny new website which is the official home of all things Greybeard (ontariogreybeards.com). Please like, follow, share, visit these accounts as this helps advertise our team and will assist in bringing in new players, opponents, and sponsors.

Sponsorship Update

Over the past month the team has been busy courting potential sponsors in an effort to raise funds for the team that will go towards the purchase of on and off field kit. With a stretch target of $8,000, we have already raised $6,000! This is an incredible achievement and with only $2,000 left to go, we are confident we will reach our goal. Special thanks to Dan Tate and Craig Soulsby who have secured the sponsors. If you have any leads on potential sponsors please let us know.

New Kit, New Colours

As we embark on a new era the Ontario Greybeards will get a fresh new look. Following detailed consumer research, the decision has been made to update our blue, gold, red colour scheme and replace it with grey, black, white. These colours were shown to resonate with consumers more than the existing colours and will allow us to better market the team through the sale of on and off field kit to our growing fanbase. It was also shown that adopting a grey-based palette would better synergise our branding as it directly links the colours to our name and logo. 

Work has begun on designing and sourcing our new kit. The plan is for each member to receive the following pieces; jersey, shorts, socks, hoodie, golf shirt, training shirt, backpack, boot bag, gumshield. All pieces are customized with the Greybeards logo and custom ordered for your number and size. The order will be placed shortly so to guarantee your shirt number and size ensure you become a member by November 1st.

Can Tag Festival | Save The Date

We are planning to see off the 2020 season with an end of year Can Tag Festival. Initial concept is to have 3, 4, or 5 teams play in a group tournament so everyone can showcase their skills and have some fun. This will also be a great fundraising opportunity for the team. We will publish more details shortly but provisionally we are planning for this on October 18th. Needless to say that this is dependent on Municipal, Provincial, and National COVID-19 regulations.

2021 Tour

We are in discussions with two teams, one from the UK and one from the US, regarding a tri-club event to be staged in the US and Canada in 2021. Talks are in the early stages but this promises to be a fantastic opportunity to play games, build inter-club relationships, and market the Greybeard brand. All registered Greybeard playing members will be eligible to take part.
